EMS China – Express Mail Service

How do you deal with this express mail thingy? Simply go to any post office branch…it’s all over the place here in Shanghai. EMS is a pretty good service, probably the best in China (I’m not counting Fedex & DHL). The rates depend on the destination of the mail & its weight. You can find the rates on their website:
www.ems.com.cn

You can also track your mail. It’s quite efficient, especially if the mail is still in China.

Although my advice is to find out which mail service in the destination country EMS China is affiliated with. I posted the draft to USA and I found out that EMS China is affiliated with USPS (United States Postal Service). Their a lot more developed so when my mail reached the US I started tracking it from the USPS website (www.usps.com). They offer a little more, you can get tracking updates sent directly to your e-mail inbox. They are also a little more detailed where tracking is concerned. Like in the above image from EMS China, they only mentioned ‘attempted delivery’ so at that moment I was like ‘what does that mean exactly?’

But in the USPS site they were just a wee bit more elaborate. You can also get ‘proof of delivery’ from USPS so that’s a pretty cool feature (very important if I were to send anything to Seychelles because back home people like to steal other people’s mail in order to sell the contents LMAO.

Seeing this was a big help to me ^^. I’m actually worried about my package. On 2008-05-29 19:06:27, it’s posted as being “Despatch from Sorting Center” in TIANJIN, and it hasn’t moved and it’s the 31st now. Is this something to worry about?

Hi Nicole. I wouldn’t worry about it just yet. :) In all honesty, I’ve used EMS several times now and they really do deliver. If you’re worried though, you can always do what I did and try to find out which postal service in that country you posted you package to, is affiliated with EMS China (find their website and submit your tracking number). All the best!

Hi! i recently just used EMS tracking to track my package and it says it attempted delivery to my place at a certain time and i was home at that time and i didnt see anyone at my place. do i need to go to the USPS office to go pick up my package or will they attempt to redeliver?

Hi Michelle, I’m not sure about USPS (as far as I know, they attempt to redeliver at your home). EMS China however, deliver packages at certain points close to your area – esp. if they were not successful delivering it at your door. You can call them and ask them where the closest point is (for example, at universities they deliver right by the gate…so students who have ordered stuff will have to go pick up their packages at that point, and at specific times during the day). Again, I don’t know much about USPS. Cheers.
