I have my driving theory test tomorrow and I am nowhere close to being prepared. This is because I didn’t really study the highway code book and I also have never seen past test papers so I have no idea what to expect. I’m a little scared too because some people are telling me to study everything in the book and others are telling me not to bother studying at all.
Each candidate’s exam paper is different, and police are the ones who will be correcting the test papers. Which means, if they THINK the answer is A and not B, but the answer is really B and that’s what you selected, your answer will be marked as incorrect. So your marks highly depend on how “in-sync” you are with the policeman or woman who is correcting your paper. It is a silly system. I know smart people who have had to re-do the test…and not-so smart people who passed it the first time around.
To make matters worse, I’m told to study the signs and there are a bunch of red and blue signs…but the exam will be in black and white. How in the world would I know whether it’s a red sign or a blue sign when some of these signs are very similar to each other?
One indication would be this: the red signs normally have a thick border, and then the symbol (or no symbol) inside that border. The blue signs tend to have a thin white border, and the space outside and inside the thin border is coloured.

Road Signs
That said, I have also figured out an easier way to remember alcohol limitations. There’s breath, blood, and urine. There are three numbers: 35, 80, and 107. The first is in micrograms, the second and third is in milligrams and all is per milliliters of their respective fluid. So when you look at the human body, breath, blood and urine heads downward in location…and when you look at the numbers, they increase in quantity. So in a way, there’s an indirect proportion thing happening…so that’s how I will remember this.

Alcohol Limit
While driving, there is also not always a right answer for everything. I mean, surely in real life situations there are more than one way to handle different situations? I’m not driving yet, but I like to keep an open mind. I’m just going to try and close my mind a little bit for tomorrow’s test because this is where I get into trouble. I should expect no trick questions, and everything should just be straightforward.
Wish me luck!
