My July Plans

It’s no secret anymore that I have resigned from my day job.  My final working day will be on Friday, July 1.  Days seem to go by very slowly ever since I handed in my resignation.  So many things have happened.  My family and friends’ initial reaction to that was “have you applied to other places?”, “you will have to get another job soon if you have bills to pay”, “what will you do after that, how can you not work”, “won’t a gap in your CV affect your future employment?”, etc.

Up until now, very few have supported my resignation.  Very few have supported my need to take a break and figure out what I really want.  I’ve already made it clear to them that my situation is not similar to theirs.  To answer these questions: no I have not applied to other places.  Yes, I will pay my own bills and if you know how to keep some money in the bank instead of spending everything each month then you would know what that’s like.  I don’t know what I will do after that, that’s my reason for not applying to other places and wasting anybody else’s time.  That’s why I’m taking this short break; it’s to figure out what I really want to do.  Yes, a gap in my CV could potentially affect my future employment but on the other hand it might not be taken too seriously (I’m unsure).  I have already been approached with a freelance gig that will take a few weeks of my July so I will place that in my CV and hope that compensates a bit.

I have invited Ant and Div to Praslin on the 4th – 5th of July to visit both Sha and Hen.  I will take as many pics as possible for this blog.  I already have many from our previous Praslin visits but I want new ones specifically for this blog.  It will be fun.  Sha will get the car and Div and Hen can drive us around.

I’m also thinking of taking my driving lessons on July; I don’t know if the instructor will be able to fit me in daily, but I will take as many classes as possible.  I’m aiming to finish the freelance gig within 2 weeks, but it might actually take 3 weeks to complete depending on how much time I want to devote to it.
