Designing My Blog’s New Theme

  • Sharebar

This month I’ve been taking this blog writing a little more seriously.  I do so with a little bit of passion and caution.  Today I feel a little rested so I’m up for staying past midnight to work on the theme.  Yesterday I started designing the mockup of the theme, which I completed today.  So I’ll go ahead and begin developing the theme after this post.

The one thing I’m still stuck with is the logo for my blog.  I don’t want anything that I will have to change in the future.  I want something very simple and straightforward.  At the moment I’m thinking of using a simple signature-like logo.  But I’m also okay with what it looks like right now – my name, in simple default fonts.  That way, it doesn’t call for attention and people can just go straight to reading the contents of the site.

What I’ve given a lot of thought to is the ad placement for my new theme.  One thing you have to keep in mind when you build a site is sustainability…this site will be kept up and supported by ads.  At the moment, it’s being funded by one of my other sites so that really sucks and is definitely not okay.

It costs approximately $60 a year to keep an average website up.  Anyway, I’m just rambling right now to reach the 200-word mark for this post :D and then I’m out. :D

I’m off to do some theming. :)
