Google is a search engine as well as a software company. It has done its acquisition over more than 100 companies like Picasa, DoubleClick. And one of it includes its acquisition over Android. As per the review of Smartphone history it shows that Android was acquired by Google in 2005 and began making its own model soon after that.
As currently Android makes operating system or software for wireless devices which are personalized for the owner. So, this is the one of the reason which makes Google to do acquisition over Android as of its mobile store.
