The sure-fire way of knowing whether or not someone has blocked and deleted you on Facebook is to find out manually, as opposed to using invasive web tools. If someone on your friend list has simply deleted you, then you will still be able to see their profile but they will not appear in your friends list and you will not appear on theirs. However, if they have not only deleted but blocked you as well, you will not be able to search for them, visit their profile, view their news feeds, etc.
Sometimes a friend deactivates their account and you are unsure whether or not they have actually blocked and deleted you. The key to finding this out is in mutual friends. If someone deactivates their account, you will not be able to find them in any mutual friends’ list. Trust me, we all have friends who keep their account public. These are the friend profiles you should use. If you think Mr. X or Ms. Y has blocked and deleted you, try searching for them in a mutual friend’s friends list. If they are there and all their comments on everyone’s walls have been greyed out then you have been blocked.
Trust me, it is wise to NOT block someone who isn’t a stalker or spammer. If it’s just a friend who annoys you a bit, leave them on your friends list anyway. If they are a gossip or they mind your business more than they should, restrict privileges so they won’t see too much of your profile. But do not burn bridges, it is the wrong way to go.
I’ve had an ex-classmate delete me from her friends list. Okay, granted she no longer lives in the country and she and I aren’t really friends but acquaintances. But if she ever finds herself in need and I’m able to help her I really won’t. This friendship bridge has been burned by her. If you are unsure about someone, then do not send them a friendship request. This particular person sent me a friendship request 2-3 times until she finally decided to filter me out. Okay, so I never spoke to her on there, but still…
