Earlier today I had started developing a Joomla 1.6 site until I found out that Joomla 1.7 has been released (stable)! I didn’t know how to react at first, because my client had asked for quite a lot of features so I was actually reconsidering moving back to 1.5 (due to the large number of compatible extensions). Thankfully, I found out that 1.6 and 1.7 isn’t that different. I mean, for a second there I thought I was in for another surprise (the long list of modifications between 1.5 and 1.6).
At first glance, the few noticeable differences were:
- Ajax installation
- Curved borders on cPanel home
- jQuery library hover effects on cPanel home buttons
That said, there are a few less visible updates:
- One Click Version Updating
- Six-Month Release Cycle
- Multilanguage Improvements
