Chrome, if you haven’t heard, is a web browser developed by Google. It’s already the third most used browser, worldwide (Source). Like any other browser, Chrome can be personalized. With a few extensions and a nifty theme, you’ll be comfortable using it as your main browser. Let me share with you a few ideas on how to make your Chrome Browser, personal.
- Choose the correct theme. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of themes to choose from. Check them out on Google’s Webstore.
- Install the right extensions. Extensions are tools we use, together with the browser, to maximize our web experience. Here’s a list of the basic but useful extensions for Chrome.a. Google Mail Checker – If you use Gmail, as often as I do, you might want to consider using this extension on your Chrome browser. It notifies you of new unread mails as you browse through the web.
b. Google Calendar – it’s developed by Google. It checks your online calendar (using Gcal) and displays your upcoming events.
c. Local Read Later – It’s an extension used to bookmark unread web pages locally to your PC. We don’t always have the time to read an entire web page, but sometimes we really need to. So this tool lets you save it for later. - Lastly, set Chrome as your default web browser.
