First Look at Nokia C7 Symbian Smartphone

  • Sharebar

Yesterday I spent the day helping out a soon-to-be client of mine with a graphics poster.  I told him that I wouldn’t charge him for it.  Later that day, he gave me a Nokia C7! How odd is that? I haven’t had the chance to check out the manual, but I have played around with the phone a bit because I wanted to compare it with my old Nokia 5530 XpressMusic.  They are both Symbian phones, but Nokia 5530′s operating system is the Symbian S60 5th edition, while the Nokia C7 is on Symbian^3.  I don’t know how that is read.  I suppose I’ll just call it “Symbian 3″ until I can confirm it’s a silent “^”.

There are many nice features with this phone.  It is built with a scratch-proof Gorilla glass screen, 8MP camera, 3G, GPS, 8GB storage, MicroSD card slot for those who require more memory, and a lot more other features.  One of the best things about it for me would be the pre-installed Quick Office app.  Now I can read PDF eBooks on a portable device!

The negative in my opinion, would be that it is a heavy phone and relatively big on my small hands so it’s probably not something I would put in my pocket…definitely not a disco/clubbing phone.

Apart from the cool feature it has, a good thing is that it has a potentially high resale value (not that I would resell it!).  It’s slim enough and very unisex in appearance unlike the other 2 phones I have (Nokia 5530 and the Nokia 7100s Supernova) because some parts are made of metal which further enhances its “coolness” factor.

Well, that’s my first take on the Nokia C7 Symbian smartphone.  I will explore it further, especially the apps that is compatible with it and I’ll blog about it.  At the moment I can already tell you that it unfortunately, isn’t compatible with any Nimbuzz versions released at the moment.  But I’ve already installed Skype.
