I’ve had a chance to browse through and use the Nokia C7‘s apps ever since it was given to me several days ago. This is a Symbian^3 OS phone, which I must admit, takes a lot of getting use to. I must start off with a correction: I mentioned on a previous post that it is not compatible with the latest Nimbuzz version. This is incorrect. I found the correct Nimbuzz app for this phone at Ovi Store. Here are the following 5 best pre-installed apps for Nokia C7-00 through my personal experience with it (random order):
1.] Social Netw.
I’m not 100% sure what the name of this app is.
It’s written ‘Social Netw.’ on the applications menu, and ‘Social’ on the homescreen menu. It basically logs you into Facebook and Twitter, which you can place on your homescreen and receive immediate updates of your friends’ status updates and news feeds. You can also update your own status message directly from your homescreen. When you click on it, it either sends you to the Facebook page or Twitter, depending on the snippet you’re reading.
2.] Ovi Store
I actually have this on my Nokia 5530 phone, but never really bothered to check it out because I thought it was a ‘store’ i.e. you could only buy stuff on it and there were no free apps. But I was wrong. This app is quite similar to the GetJar website, except that they do offer both free and paid applications. Downloading and installing any app of your choice is as simple as it gets: a single click on the ‘download’ button does it all for you. It is also extremely user-friendly and a lot like an excellent-designed website. I almost want to change my current blog theme to match it.
I’m a sucker for gray gradients. One thing that sucks though is that it doesn’t indicate whether the app is a trial or completely free. You only find that out after you install everything and only then does it tell you it’s a trial.
3.] Adobe Reader LE 2.5
Finally, I have this app! The best thing about it is that it comes pre-installed with Nokia C7 and this alone is enough for me to want to keep the phone.
I’ve always wanted a portable PDF reader, and after this post I will start uploading my many eBooks to this phone. There’s nothing like traveling with a good eBook.
4.] Ovi Maps Challenge
This is an excellent game. I can say that it really is a “challenge” especially for me because I’m really bad with maps and cities. Playing it almost makes me want to re-sit Geography 101. The cons for this game however, is that it only saves the high score, so it is a one-person game. I played the game once and I got a really low score. Then I made my twin sister (Geography enthusiast and soon-to-be Masters Degree candidate) play the game and she got a high score. So now, people who play after us will think that I got that high score which really sucks because I’m actually proud of my having always been horrible at Geography.
5.] Mail
So far, I’m not 100% happy with this application because it doesn’t really synchronize with my mail account in real-time. But it is a good application, and definitely one that is extremely useful for busy people on the go. Very easy to setup, and use.
