I texted my instructor early this morning asking him to confirm my driving lesson. I said “hi, can you pls. confirm that I have a lesson at 12:30″? He replied saying “yes, 12:30, stad” (“stad” as in Stad Linite).
At 12:00 he called asking me where I am. I was asked “what? My lesson is at 12:30…” adn he said that he made a mistake, and he’ll come pick me up “now”. I only had time to put on a shirt and jeans, and he was already outside.
He drove down to Roche Caiman, opposite of the Plaisance Primary school compound (right after Fresh Cuts). I took the car off the side of the road and we drove near the stadium, but he told me that he had just received a letter prohibiting him from entering the stadium (because of the approaching Indian Ocean Island Games)…no cones practice unfortunately. So I turned right near the St. Anne Resort entrance (or at least I think that’s what it is – basically that place where people park and go fishing). Then I turned towards the Cascade road.
We did the Cascade route, then turned to the airport back into town. I must be honest, I definitely needed to drive through that exact path today because I felt a slight lack of practice. Mr. R even asked me later if I have become scared of the road because I was doing 40Kmph on the main road. Well excuse me, I though I had to keep it to that. But after the critic I turned it to a 60 (which by the way, is too fast IMHO on the main road) and was zooming on the highway…F1? Not quite, maybe L1
. When I reached past 80Kmph, he warned me that I was going way too fast.
I think it was his messed up schedule earlier that made him force me to rush. Because when I got into town and gave up the seat to his other student, she was doing a 40 on the Roche Caiman highway and he didn’t tell her to hurry up.
After today I definitely feel quite confident about driving on normal roads. I think I’m a little ready for bigger challenges *ahem* (e.g. La Louise, La Misere, St. Louis, Beau Vallon, Machabee, Glacis, etc.). Tomorrow I will be driving at 12:30 and he told me that we’ll be practising the on road test route.
