The Seychelles’s official Airtel website has been down for too long now, possibly well over 6 months. I can’t remember because it’s been down such a long time. In fact, it’s not really ‘down’ it’s just showing “account suspended”. News has it that they haven’t paid their web hosting fees or they still owe for the website and didn’t complete payment. I don’t really get how such a reputed company can keep their site suspended and not seem to care. They don’t even care enough to redirect the site to a page that explains why their official site is out of service.
I actually had to search for them on Facebook, in order to understand that they’ve moved to the main Africa site and you have to manually select the country you live in or are interested in to know more about the services available. That site doesn’t have much information about their services though.
Recently, I’ve been thinking about getting a fixed line mobile phone (I think they call it “postpaid” now). I really am so tired of Cable & Wireless’ inefficiency so I was thinking about moving to Airtel. But how can I take their company seriously when their website isn’t even showing detailed information about their services? I guess I’m left to wait until morning to call them and keep my fingers crossed that I’m speaking to a non-xenophobic local customer service representative. Yippee, I can’t wait.
