Day 1 of Teeth Whitening!

Today is day #1 of my using Crest Whitestrips.  In fact, I’ve got a strip on my upper set of teeth already.  After leaving the strip on for 30 minutes, I will remove it and place another strip for my lower set of teeth and then leave that on for 30 minutes.  I will then repeat the procedure this evening.  That means I’ll have strips on for approximately 2 hours a day for 7 consecutive days.  It’s not that bad because I can do it when I sit in front of my desk every day, which I do for more than 2 hours a day.

I can’t remember the last time I did this teeth whitening thing.  It must have been about 2-3 years ago.  I don’t know someone’s motivation to want to do teeth whitening; I suppose it’s for the same reason we all take a shower: to remove ourselves the dirt our body has accumulated during the week…that and because people around expects us to be clean.  The teeth whitening thing does not actually bleaches you teeth.  It only removes stains.  So those who were born with yellow teeth (some mothers were on meds while pregnant so their kids end up with yellow teeth) will not see much difference.

My experience with Crest Whitestrips…it starts to hurt after a few days of application.  Although in my sister’s case, she starts to feel pain after one application.  Maybe it depends on how sensitive your teeth or dentine is? The idea is to make sure you only keep the strip on for 30 minutes.  If you keep it on for longer, you will probably get some sort of overdoes.  The last time I remember doing this was in 2009, our cruise ship holiday.  I was exhausted that evening but didn’t want to change my schedule so I placed the strip on and took a short nap.  I had planned to nap for a few minutes, but I woke up 4 hours later.  You could already see the difference in shade, but my teeth hurt so bad.

The worst thing about stained teeth is when you wear a white shirt and then you smile and that whole disaster is captured on camera…and then uploaded on Facebook for all to see.

Wish me luck.

Today is a new day for me.  I've decided to get off the following meats: chicken, pork and beef.  I've actually been off pork for quite a while now.  Yesterday ...
