I have spent only a little over 24 hours on the newly released Firefox 6.0 and I’m about to do a roll-back. I’m not kidding. The difference from 5.0 is not that noticeable. So far, I’ve only noticed one change, and that’s the domain highlighting on the addressbar; a similar feature to the new versions of Internet Explorer. This is a security measure to combat phishing.
I’m not only going to move backwards with this, but I’m considering moving back to Firefox 4, the era of pre- Google Toolbar incompatibility.
The reason why I want to install an older version of Firefox is because my add-ons; which I find difficult to surf the web without are not compatible with the 6.0 yet. Worst, the 7.0 is already available as a beta release and is due to be officially released in a just a few weeks. What about the add-ons? Firefox is moving way to fast with the updates and upgrades that 3rd party add-on developers can’t keep up.
So this leaves users no choice but to keep the older browser versions. To each his own I guess.
