Yesterday I had to walk to Roche Caiman’s off-road test area for driving lesson #15. We did the cone + reverse thing once and then my instructor got off the car and made me do it myself. So I did it several times, with no problem even if the place was full of cars. Unfortunately, the car actually stopped TWICE! I was so disappointed with myself. The car was so light without my instructor in it.
Funny enough, he warned me before he exited the car that I should be really careful because the car is not supposed to stop. I guess I didn’t rev enough.
After I did the cone and reverse thing several times, Mr. R stopped me and said “do you see how you’re driving today? It’s very good. You should always drive like this”. A few seconds later, I did my final cone thing and that’s when the car stopped the second time. Big whoops.
Give me a second and I’ll compose a graphic diagram of the actual exercise I did:
The green arrow is forward and the red arrow shows reverse. While reversing, the car’s left wheel has to be close to the yellow line. This has to be carefully watched from the left mirror. After a certain point, the vertical yellow line ends, so I have to literally look behind me to see if there are no cars or any other obstructions. I have to reverse until the car stops behind the horizontal yellow line, and the re-do the exercise over and over again for practice.
After the exercise, I drove to town through the Roche Caiman highway and then returned to Fresh Cuts through Mont Fleuri.
