Driving Lesson #16 – More Cones + Reverse Parking

  • Sharebar

Earlier today I walked to the Roche Caiman off-road test area; same place as yesterday to take on a new driving exercise.  But first, I did the cones again first with Mr. R in the car and the second with him out of the car.  I got his approval so we moved on to the next exercise (2 & 3).  This time, it was two separate exercises:

The following will be the off road test #2:

I have to drive the car to the left of the white circle, and then reverse until my nose is adjacent to the yellow mark.  I then have to pause and turn the steering wheel to the right all the way.  There is actually a cone further at the end of the road that indicates when you have to re-position the steering wheel so you reverse straight into the parking spot.  I continue to reverse, and look out of the car to make sure I do not hit the orange cone.  Then I have to enter the parking, still in reverse, until my nose is adjacent to the yellow mark.  This is visible on the left side mirror.  The car has to be parallel to both white paint lines.

The third exercise is this:

I have to drive the right wheel of the car over the white arrow and then reverse straight until my nose is adjacent to the yellow mark.  I then have to turn the steering wheel all the way to the left and then reverse into the parking spot until I reach the yellow mark.

After the exercises, Mr. R told me that we’ll be doing 2 more new ones tomorrow.  Then I drove into the town car park (near Nouvobanq main branch) and then another student dropped me off home.
