How Much Tip Should You Give the Waitress or Waiter?

  • Sharebar

Last night we were not in the mood to cook so we decided to have dinner at Chilli Bar.  This was my third time at Chilli Bar & Steakhouse.  They must be doing something right.  Our bill amounted to over a thousand rupees again, for three people.  We had dinner and dessert again, plus some mocktails because we decided to avoid alcohol…it being Monday and all.  There were so many people, which was quite surprising because it’s not really payday yet (or is it?).

To our disappointment, they have removed the deep-fried Camembert cheese off their dessert menu.  So we had ‘Rum Baba’ which is sponge cake with sugar syrup, pineapple and rum.

The best thing about Chilli bar is that it is close to where we live here at La Louise.  It is within walking distance from our house.  The second best thing about Chilli bar has got to be the respectful staff.  I don’t really care about what they think of us, but what counts is that they treat us with respect and they have always done that.  It’s also a plus that they have hired young staff, unlike places like Pirate’s Arms where; even if the staff are quite friendly they walk like they are tired…almost like they are dragging themselves to and from your table.  It’s like they are as old as the restaurant.

Anyway, before we left we had to pull out change from our pockets because we weren’t really walking around with any money.  So I only had a ten rupees note and that’s what we gave the kind waitress.  We felt quite guilty though because she was really nice to us…oh and guess what…this time they didn’t even write down our order on a piece of paper…they memorized it (or at least I hope that’s what they did)! Read my Le Relax Restaurant review.

The lady memorized 6 items, and got everything right! Well I hope they’re getting paid more now.  I felt like running home and grabbing a bigger note to tip her with.  Impressive!
