Early today my twin sister left for China via Dubai. She will be there for her Masters degree. I’m very happy for her, especially because this is something she’s wanted for quite a while now. Working as an employee in Seychelles without a Masters is a very difficult thing, and very much a hindrance. You can’t really go high up without a Masters. So not only is this something she wanted to do, but something she had to.
That said, today has already been quite stressful for me. For the next year and a half the burden of her responsibilities have been dropped on my shoulders and today is Day #1. As soon as I got up, I realized that her cat Printz had peed on two locations in the house. Do you know what cat pee smells like? It’s not only pungent but it can be used as a biological weapon. Worst of all, the stench stays there even if you clean it with strong household detergent. Unfortunately, this is not the cat’s fault. It is our fault because we do not have the capacity to know why she is peeing inside the house. I will have to buy a litter box.
Div and I used to share the responsibility of cooking, cleaning, washing the dishes, etc. Now, everything is my responsibility. The food, utility bills – and other bills for that matter is also now all on me. Money doesn’t grow on trees but somehow I have to find out where it grows so I can make ends meet.
This has come at the worst time in my life in a way, because career-wise, I am on somewhat unfamiliar territory and there are lots of bills and fees coming up all the time. It’s very unlike any typical day job when you can estimate exactly how much you have to spend and what your bills are.
Not that I am complaining about the bills, but with the added daily responsibilities I definitely have a time issue on my hands.
I really admire people who seem to know the secret of obtaining extra time. They manage to do everything they need to do every day. I’m getting there.
