This morning, I woke up really early and actually forgot that I had a driving lesson. It was 40 minutes before the time I was supposed to begin. I quickly wore something casual and random, and just as I was about to exit the door I heard my driving instructor honking outside on the main road. Thankfully, I was already ready.
The learner drove up to pre-St. Louis, at the bus stop right after the Chinese Embassy. That’s where I took over. So I drove down to the Bel Air intersection and entered the Bel Air road. I then drove to Mont Fleuri, and then turned to the Roche Caiman highway until we reached the cones.
I did all the exercises today. I only had one main problem, which was reversing into the “white dot”. I felt the car was “straight” into it, and the instructor told me it wasn’t. So I had to re-do it until he felt it was straight. While reversing and doing the parallel parking exercise, the car actually stopped. It was because I had my head out of the car and because of that, I could barely reach the clutch.
I did the other exercises well enough I think (no complaints from the instructor). I have absolutely no idea what the test will be like because I was only told what to expect but not the actual format. The emergency brake exercise still confuses me a bit as well…it’s usually my instructor that instructs me to move to second gear, but I don’t know if the police will tell me that or if I’m expected to know that myself. I will have to take the initiative to shift to second gear if nobody tells me anything.
My off-road test is tomorrow, I don’t think it’s counted as a lesson. If I flunk it, I’ll have to spend one more week with an instructor who doesn’t have the patience to deal with me anymore. Wish me luck.
