Driving Lesson #23 and #24: Driving All Over The Place

  • Sharebar

I actually mean I’ve been driving everywhere today.  I started lessons at around 9:15am and I didn’t bring any money with me for bus plus I was wearing casual clothes so I didn’t want to take the bus home.  My instructor told me to wait in the car so that his next student will drop me home but that student was late so he asked me to go to the front seat for another lesson! So I had almost 2 hours of lessons today.

I can’t even remember where I started this morning.  The instructor and another student picked me up from home.  I might have started near English River, because I did the Castor road practice.  Anyway, I went to St. Louis, and then turned into Le Niol.  Further up into the road, I turned and went back down the same road, but this time instead of heading back to town we drove to Beau Vallon (near the Coral Strand hotel area) for my instructor to give something to someone there.

I then drove back to town and turned into the Bel Air road.  I was in town a lot today.  The best thing about town at that hour though, is the realistic situations it enables you to experience.  Namely the balancing due to traffic (which I feel I’m already pretty good at) narrow roads and the ‘careful’ speeds.  Not to mention obstacles such as pedestrian crossings, pelican crossings, traffic lights, roundabouts, jay-walkers and people who park their cars at random locations.

I’ve had a rather eventful driving experience today, perhaps all my lessons should be that long.

Oh yeah…I asked him if the off road test was counted as one paid lesson and he said “yes”.  WTF? So I have to deduct it out of what I’ve paid him for so far.  Which means I only have about 5 lessons left.  Looks like I will have to pay for another 5.  I won’t have a lesson tomorrow, not sure if I’ll have one on Friday but I might personally skip it.  Although it seems as though he doesn’t want me to skip any because my on road is coming up really soon.
