For quite a while now I’ve been thinking about creating a Seychelles web directory. I had a few minutes to spare today so I decided to register a domain name and create the directory (seychellesdirectory.com). Submissions and listings are free so go ahead and submit your Seychelles websites. Over the course of the month or months ahead I will be submitting Seychelles sites that I come across online. If I happen to include your website and you would like me to edit it or take it down, please let me know and I’ll do that immediately.
The purpose of this directory is to offer everyone online a portal that links to relevant and useful (in some cases not useful) websites related to the country. Search engine optimization is still a little ‘backwards’ here in Seychelles so people with websites don’t really work on that. Many assume that if you have a website it will be search-able on Google and other search engines.
So here’s the old-school method for the country: a web directory.
As this is a free web directory service, fees are coming out of my pocket. I’ll do what I can to develop it, but I don’t really want to hear any complaints. I’ll be emphasizing on optimizing the site (which will hopefully provide more exposure to the listings on it). But this will be a slow process because it’s something I can only do in my free time.
