Many a time, people need to protect their important files and folders and even a whole partition. If there is more than one user of a same computer then it becomes one of the important needs. Microsoft Windows do not come with any pre – installed software which can help you to password protect your partition, files, folders and other important documents. Now you might be thinking, is it even possible or not. Yes, it is possible to protect using password. But for that, you have to go for third-party solution. Several software, are available which can help you in this. Some are free-ware and some are business-related.
Here I’ll discuss one of my all time favourite software, Folder Lock which will help you and let you know how to password protect your partition and other important documents and folders.
Steps to follow for using Folder Lock:
- After installing the software, start Folder Lock software, and click “New” tab to make a new secured disk.
- After that click “Browse” button & select the partition you want to password protect. Select and give its’ name for the new, secured “Locker”
- Enter your desired password for the partition you selected and press “Ok” and it’s done. Now whenever you try to access this selected partition, you will have to use Folder Lock.
There are other software available. For example, Disk Password Protection, and TrueCrypt and they are simple to follow.
