A Quick Introduction to the Android Operating System

One of the most popular mobile phone operating system developed by Open Handset Alliance and later purchased by Google in today’s dates which competes iPhone operating system and other, is an Android Operating System. The main advantage is its’ open source.

On November 5, 2007, Google announced Android as a mobile phone operating system which is developed on Linux environment. Android is consisted of middleware, application software, and user interface which is said to be the first open and total mobile software made for mobile terminals. Android operating system is for smart phones, and tablet computers.

Let me provide you a quick introduction to the Android Operating System. ARM [Advanced RISC Machine] architecture is the main hardware of Android. The first mobile phone available in market using Android as its operating system was the “HTC Dream” which was released on 22nd October 2008.

Later on, Google team up with HTC to commence another Android based mobile phone “Nexus One”. And from 2011 onwards many companies like, Samsung, Dell, LG, Sony Ericsson, etc. started using Android operating system for their mobile phones. And there has been news that in future even BlackBerry will launch mobile phones based on Android operating system.
