One of the most popular OS Android is software which is not only an operating system but also a middleware and key applications. After the first release of Android 1.1 it has made several updates in its version and is still updating.
Following are the android’s different versions:
- Android 1.1: It was released in Feb 2009. It supports attachments saving for MMS; it gives marquee in layouts and API.
- Android 1.5 Cupcake: Released in April 2009. It comes with Bluetooth which supports A2DP and AVRCP. Some other exciting features are like to upload videos on YouTube and pictures to Picasa.
- Android 1.6 Donut: Released on September 2009 comes with screen revolution support of WVGA, and also free turn by turn Google support.
- Android 2.0/1 Eclair: Released on October 2009, provides HTML5 file facility, exchange server of Microsoft and Bluetooth version 2.1.
- Android 2.2 Froyo: It was released on May 2010. It comes with Adobe flash 10.1 and USB tethering and Wi-Fi hotspot functionality is the added functionality.
- Android 2.3 Gingerbread: It comes with multi touch keyboard software and also has the facility for screen size and resolution.
- Android 3.0 Honeycomb: Latest one released on May 2011, it comes with 3D desktop. Video-chat and Gtalk facility is provided. And provides new interface for its users.
Still yet to release the latest one Ice-cream Sandwich, this will be the grouping of Honeycomb and Gingerbread.
