Well, of course you don’t.
Today I decided to help my mum with some general cleaning. Before I left for China several years ago they cleared out my bedroom and dumped all my stuff in boxes. Actually, I thought they had thrown everything away. Only today did I find out that everything was placed in boxes…including my Canon Intelligent Organizer DM-4800.
I was psyched at the sight of it, so much so that I had to tell my buddy Christine about it because her of all people would remember it…we were good friends when we were 15 years old and I think that was the year I bought the electronic organizer. That was way back in 1997 when most of us here in Seychelles weren’t even using mobile phones and computers yet, let alone access to the internet (this might also be the reason why it’s not coming up on the Google SERPs – except for one or two people who have mentioned it). So for a 15 year old teen this was just as good as blogging…except that nobody got to read anything…did blogging even exist back then?
This thing came with all kinds of cool features, e.g. phonebook (2 personal and 2 business), memo, to-do, anniversaries / calendar, conversion, world time, alarm, password, etc. It uses 3 CR2032 Lithium-Ion batteries (two main, one backup). If I remember correctly, these batteries lasted for months. But it gets more interesting: it’s got a 67KB RAM.
This is quality stuff. Heck, check out the keypad…I didn’t even wear-out the keys. I was typing on this thing all the time. Solid.
This e-organizer was priced at around SGD125. Back then, I didn’t have the dosh to buy it so I had to do some hard core begging. I had to come up with stuff like “Maaaaaaaaa can I pleeeeeeeeeease get an electronic organizer…pleeeeaase” and I had to be very precise with timing too! Oh the good ol’ days. But here’s the interesting part…this electronic organizer must have been released in 1997 or before that. Which makes it over 14 years old now…and at most 5 years away from being ‘vintage’.
My main aim right now is to get it to work again…so I need new batteries.

Have one about same vintage which has loads of phone numbers, ID’s, passwords, anniversaries etc. stored in it and it is now acting a bit odd. Switching on is chancey but the entries are all still there.
I just added new batteries to mine and the screen is faded, I don’t know what’s up. Oh well, I guess it’s probably just best to move on to the modern digital devices.
I remember this you never leave it behind even when you came home for weekends you brought it with you lol ti the point that I wanted one too hahahhaha you were always into blogging remeber dear Diary hahahahahhaha
LOL yeah. I was so glad when I found it in the house.
