This sucks. Here I was taking a bit of a nap at 7pm when my mum told me that the English news mentioned that Air Seychelles has decided to drop Singapore as one of their weekly destinations. In fact, they are dropping it completely. Their last trip will be on November 22nd, and the plane will return on November 24th. Interesting enough, I was supposed to leave on November 22nd but I have postponed my trip for December. Now how on earth am I going to get there? I absolutely loathe stopovers.
I just checked both Qatar Airways and Emirates, the tickets from Seychelles to Singapore on the dates I’ve specified cost around SCR15’000 (USD 12’000) – to Singapore! This sucks. That’s not the worst part…the worst part is that I already have my e-ticket to China from Singapore, so I HAVE to go to Singapore. I’m going to end up paying about SCR25’000 (USD2000) just to go to China? Thank you Air Seychelles for ruining everything.
What’s weird is that this whole thing came out of nowhere. We weren’t warned or anything…on the 8pm news they were like “pirate this pirate that, blah blah this, blah blah that,…oh and p.s., Air Seychelles is done with Singapore.” My mum and I find this really weird (let’s just say I know people who have bought tickets for December, which means this was not in Air Seychelles’ plan…definitely not for this year anyway).
Anyway, looking ahead now…Etihad Airways is now available to us here, and starting next week (November 15) Ethiopian Airlines will be too. These should give us some interesting choices.
