I’m sipping Jasmine tea at Y@wnet right now (tea sold separately). It’s an internet cafe in town. The price is quite affordable (SCR15 for 30 minutes), although it would be great if they offered some kind of membership so I could get a discount…heheh… The speed of internet here is better than my internet speed at home, although I don’t know who their internet provider is.
I come here sometimes because I enjoy changing my environment when I work on stuff online. How weird is that? I have a few things to do in town as well, and there’s nothing better than to spend the time reading stuff online. I’m also checking to see if Net2FTP (web-based FTP client) will work better here than at home. But I can confirm that right now: it does not. So although I completely recommend Net2FTP, they really need to sort themselves out where unzipping compressed files is concerned.
The internet cafes in Seychelles are much better than the internet cafes in Shanghai. In Seychelles, you will find tourists, students, expatriates in such establishments. It really brings back a lot of memories about the first few times I accessed the internet. It was at an internet cafe here, and it was a great feeling to finally be able to talk to people online. In Shanghai however, most people at internet cafes are men. They consist of students and office workers playing MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game).
