What To Do If You Lose Your Driving License In Seychelles

  • Sharebar

I was issued my first-ever driving license last month.  Somehow, it got lost so my family members and a few friends told me that I had to report it to the police station in town.  So that’s what I did.  I went to the front desk and they sent me to the traffic section.  The police at the traffic section sent me to the police at the main office.  I said the same thing to all 3 people: “I lost my driving license…”.  Truth of the matter is, someone else lost it…but that’s a whole other story.  I just wanted to be clear on that.

Nobody at the police station recorded anything.  They sent me to the Seychelles Licensing Authority to get the card reprinted.  The second print came out badly, so they had to print it a 3rd time.  So technically, I am holding my 3rd card.  I don’t know where the lost license is.  That person who lost it must have dropped it on the floor while he was with it.  So somewhere out there, my card is either on the ground being stepped on or it’s in some pervert’s pocket.

Anyway, I thought I’d let everyone know that NO, you don’t have to waste your time reporting it to the police station.  Just go directly to SLA and you’ll get it reprinted for 50 rupees.

I didn’t “give” my license to anyone. He was just holding it for a while…not even a day actually. When I met up with him to take it back, he was drunk and “misplaced” it. Long story.
