We arrived in Beijing, the capital of China at around 1:20am this morning from Singapore. We already encountered 2 frustrating situations. The first: some kind of Russian or Eastern European guy hopped in front of me in the queue at the immigration counter. I went as far as telling him to go behind the queue and he kept pointing at his passport and then speaking to me in some kind of numa numa iei or however that’s spelt kind of language. See, that’s why I don’t date white guys…there are already enough Asian women kissing their arses it’s almost reinforcing racism. Also, how stupid is it to talk to a stranger using an Eastern European language?
Anyway, when we exited the airport to take a taxi to our hotel I already anticipated the taxi driver not knowing where the hotel is. It’s almost like I haven’t been in China long enough, I should have insisted that the taxi driver know the hotel before actually getting in.
We will check out by noon tomorrow and will be spending 2 days with a family friend. We’re trying to get a room at my sister’s university’s hotel but they have no vacant rooms at the moment.
I am completely out of my comfort zone right now, no internet access (this post will remain in my drafts folder until my phone is able to access the internet). There is a computer at the lobby but I just miss being at home in front of my own computer…and I miss my Thylvethter.
That said, I definitely want to make the most of this holiday and I’m grateful to have some of my family members with me, even if I left the others in Singapore. It’s great to be with family at this time of year.
It was around -7 degrees Celcius when we landed. Although the cold doesn’t feel as “sharp” as zero degrees in Shanghai. So it’s bearable.
Speaking of Shanghai, I can’t believe it’s so close…lots of memories…but all my main friends are no longer there so I don’t have plans to visit.
