This week we welcome the official release of Joomla! 2.5 and the official death (unsupported) of Joomla! 1.7. This is quite scary because I haven’t had the chance to check out the latest version. I have just downloaded it and I’m about to test it locally. I have no idea what to expect yet in terms of component compatibility. Joomla! core developers are working their butts off and they are surpassing the speed of third-party developers in updating compatible components. Life was a lot easier when Joomla 1.5 was out and they kept it to that version for a very long time. A reminder that 1.7 was released less than a year ago and just months after 1.6. came out.

I hope noob like me will be able to get some good hands on 2.5
I’ve tested the 2.5. I don’t see much difference between the 1.7 and the 2.5 versions. Although there have been some improvements and features for convenience sake.
There was a lot expected out of the Joomla 2.5 version, but somehow the expectations have not been met. However, the version is not a completely disappointment, as well. The speed has been increased a bit and some features have been added too.
Joomla makes a constant effort so as to bring out the best in all its versions and therefore, this time too it has brought forward a good version. The 2.5 version is technically advanced and provides good platform for webmasters.
Constant effort of Joomla to bring the best features for its users, can be seen in its latest version. Joomla 2.5 version is having many features compared to its previous versions.
