Burnt Polvoron – Woop Dee Do!

This past week I had planned to make some onion rings (for the first time) so I bought onions, flour and baking powder.  I was going to attempt to cook some this evening and then I realized eggs was in the list of ingredients I needed.  Big whoops, I forgot to buy eggs.  So I decided to check out SuperCook – it’s a site that gives you a list of things you can do with the ingredients you have.

After I listed down a few baking-related items I have in the kitchen, one of the search results was polvoronPolvoron is a Philippines delicacy which I really like.  So I attempted to make it.  Unfortunately, I left the flour on the cooking pan for too long so it over-toasted.  I ended up with burnt polvoron.  It tastes okay but it doesn’t really taste like polvoron…it actually tastes like cheesecake crust! So I sprinkled some over the custard I made the other day and we have a winner!

It’s always possible to turn a bad situation around!
