It’s April 4th, a few minutes to midnight and I’m very pleased to say that my blog has a new logo, designed by the very talented Lucian Husac:

The irony about logos is that they look simple and they’re usually so small…but they are vital in branding and they are so difficult to design.  I would know because I’ve struggled with mine for too long.  Anyway, I was reading through a few blogs earlier today and I came across After Bedtime Blog’s post about free logos.  I decided to go ahead and give it a go so I contacted Lucian Husac, founder of The Logo Lab.  He specializes in ‘clean and minimalist’ logos (which is what all logos should be like!).

I sent him a request through the online form on his website and a few minutes later he replied.  Here’s what I requested:

Hi Lucian,

Thanks so much for getting back to me on this I really appreciate it! I love modern 2D designs (e.g. the Google+ feel).  I really like the ideas behind your logos:

My URL has my name: Sabrina Sabino so I would really like to have the two ‘SS’ on the logo, and somehow relate that to ‘open source’ which is my niche.  I guess I’ve always thought of that as a challenge so I can’t come up with a good logo for my site.   My site’s colours are: purple and green, with some gray…

But having said all that, I’ll leave it to you to make any designs that you feel is best for my site because I value your service!
