For the more savvy business people, the internet has become a standard business tool. The Seychelles is a group of small islands where most of the business community is online. Using email and browsing through website for their everyday work.
One of our main challenges is a very slow internet service where watching online videos and participating in webinars remains a “nice to have” or “urban myth”. Unfortunately we just don’t have the bandwidth at the present moment in time for the basic business purposes before venturing to clever online marketing strategies.
The question of faster download speeds has been raised by many users including those in higher authority. After many months it was decided fibre optics would be the best solution to this challenge. At last we would now have facilities that would put Seychelles in the same league as the rest of the world on the internet.
What difference will this make to internet marketers?
Video has become a widely used medium on the internet. With uses ranging from education, business presentations to simple advertisements and many other marketing practices and initiatives.
A typical 10 minute video should be downloaded in a few seconds rather than ten minutes wait. This would make it a valuable resource for any internet marketer where the name of the game is to constantly educate your target audience about your products and services.
Fibre optics will make this possibility a reality. No more waiting in vain.
Lots of internet marketers would be put off at this point because they’re already using this type of medium with acceptable download speeds so most would be reluctant to use slower speeds as it would be like falling backwards.
Services such as teleconferences and webinars could now be used as a standard both for business and educational purposes along with internet marketing.
A webinar can only work with certain internet speeds which will easily be facilitated by the installation of fibre optics.
As more and more Seychellois people start marketing their products and service online the need to download large amounts of information fast will increase and most won’t be prepared to wait ages to access the information.
They would expect a certain level of service with adequate download speeds comparable to similar services overseas offered for a similar price.
The installation of fibre optics in Seychelles would also mean that more people from the business community would see the internet as a viable reliable resource to market their products and services and others might start a business that exists only online in the area of internet marketing.

Fibre optics brings it with itself a promise of great speed for all the uploading and downloading needs that you have, and it brings down the overall cost of using the internet and its facilities like videos.
I really do hope that they bring down the costs of using internet with the optical fiber. Although unfortunately, my current service provider will probably not offer that right now, so I’m contemplating a shift. We’ll see how it goes.
