It’s taken years, but we’re finally there. Earlier today I received a message from Cable & Wireless Seychelles on my prepaid number and it read:
Twitter available from C&W mobile! SMS ‘Start’ to 9695 & either sign up for a new twitter account today or add your mobile no. to existing twitter account!
You know what that means right? Either everyone will now have a Twitter account just like they have a Facebook account OR nobody will really use it just like it’s been so far where many people have an account but don’t really use it.
I however, will be one of these unfortunate spenders I think because I do have an active Twitter account and I have always enjoyed being able to Tweet by sending SMS to a specific number. Assuming this will cost the same as a local text, I suppose it’s alright as long as it’s a relevant tweet.
