Some time last year I wrote a post about verifying your Paypal account here in Seychelles. My Paypal account is verified with a bank account overseas (because it was created when I was living abroad) and according to Paypal’s instructions, I had to create another account specifically for Seychelles. Since my last Paypal post, a few people have been curious about how they can verify their accounts. So here’s an update (with answers!). I called up Nouvobanq and Barclays earlier this afternoon to verify the details with them:
First and foremost Paypal will verify your Seychelles account as long as you have an international VISA debit card.
Verified Paypal Account with Barclays Bank Seychelles:

If you already have an account with Barclays and a local VISA debit ATM card, all you have to do is request for an international VISA debit card. All they’ll do is change your local card to an international one, and this is done free of charge. If I heard the lady correctly, you can spend up to 8000 rupees.
Verified Paypal Account with Nouvobanq Seychelles:

The customer representative who gave me all this info was very thorough and helpful, it’s almost like he knew I was going to blog about it. Nouvobanq does not provide international VISA debit cards. They do however, provide “something like a credit card“. This is how it works: they place a certain amount of money especially for your card. The minimum is USD1000. But to qualify, you need 120% of that amount in the account. That will be your set expenditures for that month. Every month, they “replenish” your account with the amount you have specified. The card that you get is an international VISA credit card and it can be used to verify your Paypal account.
Nouvobanq does not encourage online payments, but according to them if you HAVE to do it, make sure the site offers Paypal as a payment method because Paypal has buyer protection.
How do you verify your Paypal account anyway?
First, you log into your Paypal account. You will see the link to verify your account:

You will then have to select the option of verifying with a VISA debit card linked to your bank account in Seychelles. Unless of course you have a US bank account:

Click on ‘Use My Visa Card’ and you will be redirected to a page where you can input your card details to confirm it.
As for withdrawing from Paypal:
“Your available balance is automatically transferred on the first day of every month to your linked card or bank account. You can also withdraw payments from your available balance to your linked card or bank account at any time.”
That’s something Paypal does for some lucky countries (I don’t think fees are taken out of your funds when Paypal does the automatic withdrawals).
If you’ve got any more questions, please ask Barclays, Nouvobanq or Paypal because I don’t work for any of these companies, thanks.

Finally you got Seychelles bank verified paypal account… congrats…
No, I haven’t tried verifying my own account. LOL. But I’ll probably do it soon because I don’t want to pay fees when I withdraw funds. I’d be okay with the automatic withdrawal (although I can imagine how that can be quite annoying).
There are a number of scams around so it is better to be safe than be sorry about losing the authority over your PayPal account and eventually losing out on the money.
Paypal is one of the only few trusted entities for online banking transactions. It is like a boon who are in need of transferring or receiving money through online resources.
Paypal is one of the most trusted metnod of receiving or sending payments. Hence for many online workers it is advisable to have paypal account and then to get it varified. I do have paypal account but I could not get it varified yet. However, it seems that the procedure is not very complicated. For Indians they ask for the bank account details and then varify with the respective bank. I have heard that even some sites demand that you must have varified paypal account to work with them.
Yes, some sites will only accept payment from verified Paypal accounts. Although in these cases, it is specifically for those that have verified their accounts with a credit card info on file.
